The case concerns printers, which starting January 1, 2010 may experience the following problems:

For printers with Ink Monitoring System (IMS) message DATE IS SET BACKWARD is displayed and printer can not print. Printer displays wrong date and time and printed time, date, expire date (date+offset) are not correct.
For printers without Ink Monitoring System (IMS) there is no warning message but printer displays wrong date and time and printed time, date, expire date (date+offset) are not correct.

Below are instructions for dealing with such situations.

For more information please contact your local dealer or EBS Ink-Jet Systeme Customer Support.

Instructions:

  1. EBS-6000, EBS-6000P, EBS-6002, EBS-6100, EBS-6100P, EBS-1500 printers with software 21_5A or lower.

    1. Switch the power on (starting on January, 1 2010) and check if the printer displays correct date. If date is correct in this printer problem does not occur.
    2. If problem exists, always following switching the power on, date is changed to 01.01.00 (day month year - it means 01 January 2000) and time is changed to 00:00:00 and for printers with Ink Monitoring System (IMS) there is a message DATE IS SET BACKWARD !!.
    3. In menu 4 SERVICE go to D OTHERS, press ENTER, type service password: E25PIX.
    4. Go to SET TIME AND DATE and set the actual date (remembering that the format is day, month, year), set the time. Press ENTER, to exit out of SET TIME AND DATE command. Now cancelled is DATE IS SET BACKWARD error and the printer works correctly until the power is off.
    5. E. Contact you Service to update printer software. Until software is updated proceed as for above mentioned points B to D.

    NOTICE:
For point D above do not type the "in advance" date because it will produce again DATE IS SET BACKWARD error when retyping correct date and for this case there is need to contact Service.
If, by mistake, the user types the "in advance" date and next the correct date - the DATE IS SET BACKWARD error occurs. The only way to remove this error is to contact your Service and:

For software version below 17_4C - again set identifier (44 characters).
For software version 17_4C and next it is enough to set 50 hours without ink/solvent check or change ink/solvent colour (8 characters).

The software upgrade is still needed, as described in point E above, to avoid time and data setting every time when the power is switched on..

  2. EBS-3001NN, EBS-3001N/3R, EBS-4100, EBS-4002, EBS-300, EBS-1000, EBS-1000/n printers.

    1. Switch the power on (starting on January, 1 2010) and check if the printer displays correct date. If date is correct in this printer problem does not occur.
    2. If the date is not correct try to set the correct date and time. Check whether the printed date and time is correct.
    3. If:
      • It is not possible to set correct date or
      • Date printout is not correct or
      • After next power-up the date is again not correct
contact you Service to update printer software.
    4. The printer can be operated if the printouts are correct.
